ABOUT ICAR-NBFGR

ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) was established in December 1983 in a rented premises at Allahabad under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research to undertake research related to the conservation of fish germplasm resources of the country. The Bureau’s permanent infrastructure was developed at Canal Ring Road, Telibagh, Lucknow, U.P in 1999 comprising an administrative block, laboratories, farm and residential complex covering an area of 52 acres. Fish Farm Unit

Ganga Aquarium is one of the largest and finely architecture public Aquarium’s of India and is situated in the lush-green surrounding of the National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, U.P (India). It is a non-profit making unit dedicated to public in order to increase understanding of aquatic life and environment and built widespread awareness for conservation of aquatic genetic resources.

National Fish Museum & Repository

The ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR), Lucknow, is designated by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Government of India, as the nodal repository for the transfer of fish resources under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
